VOLUNTEER TRAINING COURSE (ENGLISH / 中文)

     

Level I (4 hours):

Course Content:
1. Understanding the helping relationship - what helping is and is not.
2. Understanding the helper process.
3. Attitudes and values that volunteers need when working with older persons.
4. Understanding our own limitations and setting boundary in a helping relationship.

初级课程 (4 小时):

课程内容:

1. 了解助人关系:什么是助人? 什么不是助人?
2. 了解助人的过程.
3. 在与年长者沟通时,应该具备怎么样的态度与理念.
4. 了解自己在助人关系中的局限性,以学习适当地设定服务界限.

 

Level II (12 hours):

Course Content:

Self Awareness

- Using the “Iceberg Metaphor” (Satir Model)  to understand ourselves as helpers.
- Using the Iceberg Metaphor as a tool to understand the psycho-emotional needs of the older
   persons, i.e. understanding them beyond their behavours.

Basic Counselling Skills

- Engaging the older persons - active listening skills, responding skills.
- Identifying feelings.
- Listening for expectations.
- Exploration and understanding the older persons’ beliefs, values and  perceptions.
- Use of reminiscence to affirm, appreciate and validate the older persons as well as a way to
   connect and identify their internal resources.
- Older persons at-risk : Signs and symptoms to look out for.
- Community Resources  knowing When, Where and How to refer.

中级课程 (12 小时 )

课程内容:
自我了解/自我探索
- 如何使用“冰山隐喻”(萨提尔模式)来了解助人者本身的期望、观点与感受 .
- 引用“冰山隐喻”,来深入了解年长者外在行为底层下的内心世界.
基本辅导技巧
- 如何应用积极倾听与反映的技巧,以便能更有效地与年长者沟通交流.
- 如何辨别年长者所反映出的不同的心理情绪.
- 如何通过聆听,以清楚了解年长者的期望.
- 如何探讨与了解年长者的个人信念、价值观与观点.
- 如何通过“回忆治疗”,使年长者能够从中接触到他们的内在资源,致使年长者能够自我肯定与自我赞赏.
- 如何通过观察,来及早辩识出年长者所可能面临的危机.
- 了解如何依据年长者的处境与需要,寻找并转介到适当的社区资源.
